LADY HAWKS DEFEAT LAKERS

The Lady Hawks played host to OCCAC foe Lakeland Community College on Wednesday night and avenged an earlier loss by knocking off the Lakers by a score of 80-68.

Hocking College struck first on an offensive rebound and put back by Alison Bray. Bray and the Hawks would then go on a 7-2 run in the opening minutes and would never look back.

"I'm so proud of our girls' performance today" said Coach Ron Conner. "They were able to come out and make the offensive adjustments that we worked on the last few days in practice and it really paid off for us today."

Kylie Jettinghoff led all scorers and posted a career high 33 points in the win over Lakeland. She was followed in scoring by Jena Cozad with 17 on 5-11 shooting from behind the arc. Alison Bray had 10 points and 10 rebounds to notch her second double-double of the year.

The teams 22 assists and 39 rebounds were also season highs for the team. Brandy Merritt led Hocking in the assist category with 9 and Bray's 10 would lead Hocking's rebounding efforts.

Patricia Cistrunk and Alicia Sephus both had double-doubles for the Lakers. Cistrunk poured in 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds and Sephus had 18 points and 12 boards. Brianna Prugel was Lakeland's other scorer in double figures as she added 20 points on 9-14 shooting from the field.

Hocking's ladies will travel to Perrysburg on Saturday to take on #2 Owens Community College. That game is slated for a 1 pm tip off at the SHAC.
