Lady Hawks Drop Game at Owens

LADY HAWKS DROP GAME AT OWENS

Toledo, Ohio

 

Hocking College's women's team travelled to Toledo, Ohio on Sunday to take on the #2 Owens Express at the SHAC. Owens came out strong and continued their winning ways knocking off the Hawks, 101-36, en route to their 27th victory of the year. With the victory Owens has now won 41 straight games going back to January 6th last season. 

The Express led a balanced attack as they had 6 players reach double figures. Kaylah Ivey led all scorers with 17 points and 8 rebounds on 8-9 shooting from the field. Ivey was followed in scoring by Brenda Pennington with 14 points. Jeryn Reese, Ariel Bethea and Courizma Williams each chipped in 12 points and Essence Cowan contributed 11 to round out Owens players in double figures. 

The Hawks were led by sophmore guard Brandy Merritt with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. McCollister followed closely with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. Alison Bray chipped in 5 points and 3 rebounds, Randi Barker had 3 points giving the Hawks a lift off the bench, and Kylie Jettinghoff rounded out the scoring for Hocking with a lone free throw. 

Hocking College will return to action this Wednesday as they take on Sinclair Community College in the last home game of the regular season, tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center.
