Lady Hawks Fall to Chargers

LADY HAWKS FALL TO CHARGERS

Piqua, Ohio

 

The Lady Hawks traveled to Piqua, Ohio on Saturday to take on the Chargers of Edison State. The game was a tale of two halves as the Hawks came out strong and competed well taking and early lead 23-22 and holding on to that one point lead at the half time intermission, 36-35. 

Late in the 3rd quarter the Chargers began to pull away and the Hawks couldn't over come the deficit in the 4th, falling to Edison State 86-72. 

The Chargers were led by Carly Buzzard with 20 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double and Brook Hickey who also poured in 20 points off the bench. Riley Culver also notched a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Other scorers for the Chargers were Sydney Miller with 15 points, Holly Frey added 13, Lauren Monnin had 5 and Dana Heckman chipped in 4. 

Hocking College was led by an great performance by the dynamic duo of McCollister and Merritt. Macy McCollister charted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds while Brandy Merritt filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. Jena Cozad and Kylie Jettinghoff followed with 12 points a piece, Alison Bray chipped in 7 points, and Randi Barker came off the bench to score 3 points in the contest. 

The Hawks fall to 4-21 after the loss and will travel to Owens Community College to take on the Express tomorrow at 3 p.m.
