                                                   LADY HAWKS FALL TO CUYAHOGA

Nelsonville, Ohio

Hocking College played host to OCCAC foe Cuyahoga Community College on Wednesday night. After a pretty even first half the Challengers imposed their will in the second half by wearing down the Hawks with their full court pressure to come away with the win, 87-56.

"We played well in the first half and only trailed by five at the break" said Hocking's Head Coach, Ron Conner. "We just couldn't match their size and physical presence inside and our girls ran out of gas in the second half."

Cuyahoga's Darian Carter poured in a game high 29 points on 9-14 shooting from the field and 11 rebounds to lead all scorers on her way to a double-double. Shannise Dillard (14), Ebony Young (13), and Daesia Avery (10) followed Carter in scoring to round out Tri-C's scorers in double figures. Ebony Young also notched a double-double pulling down 11 rebounds to go along with her 13 points.

Brandy Merritt led the attack for Hocking scoring 24 points on 14-16 from the charity stripe. She was followed in scoring by Macy McCollister (12), Kylie Jettinghoff (11), Alison Bray (5), and Jena Cozad (4). Other players seeing minutes but not scoring were Randi Barker and Chelsie Kotlar

The loss brings Hocking College to a 4-18 record heading into the weekend's match up with Columbus State. The Lady Hawks will tip off against the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Multiplex.
