Lady Lakers roll Hocking College

The Lady Lakers basketball used a strong 23-7 third quarter run to beat the Hocking College Hawks 82-61 last night at Lakeland. The two teams battled back and fourth throughout the first quarter and finished it with the Lakers ahead 16-14. At the half, the Lakers had moved to a 39-27 lead before the decisive third quarter. The Lady Lakers out rebounded the Hawks from start to finish and finished the game with a 68-54 edge. Patricia Cistrunk recorded 12 rebounds while Alicia Ward had 10 rebounds and 8 points. Freshman Alicia Sephus finished the evening leading the way with 18 boards and contributing 17 points.


In the first half, the Hawks kept in the game by hitting several threes. Throughout the half, Brianna Prugel (11 points) and Makea Scott continued to answer the bell. In the end Scott finished the night with 29 points on a 10-17 effort from the field while also shooting 5-7 from the line. with the win, the Lakers improve to 3-4 on the year while the Hawks drop to 2-7.


The Lakers are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Piqua, Ohio to play the Edison Community College Chargers. They will then make the trek to Batavia, New York to play Genesee Community College Sunday. Game times for both games is 1 p.m. The team will then be off for the holidays and return to action Jan. 11 when they will travel to Columbus State to play the Cougars at 5:30 p.m.
