Lady Commodores End Shooting Slump With 95-42 Romp Over Hocking College

January 20, 2018 - After averaging 26 percent shooting over the previous three games, the Lorain County Community College Lady Commodores shot 41% to dash past Hocking College, 95-42, on Saturday afternoon, January 20, on the winners' floor.

Sophomore forward Angel Blakely (pictured) contributed a double-double as she scored a game-high 24 points, connecting on 9-of-14 shots, and pulled down 14 rebounds, plus a game-high five steals and three assists. Freshman guard Hannah Oehlstrom put up 21 points, seven boards, three assists and one steal.  Sophomore forward Jasmine White contributed a strong double-double with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting and a game-high 15 boards. Sophomore guard Carrie Carlson tallied 13 points and five boards, three assists and a steal.  Sophomore forward Sarah Kyser pitched in with 10 points on 5-of-9 shots, plus five boards and two assists.

LCCC never trailed, led 41-22 at halftime and sealed the game with a 32-7 outburst in the third quarter.  The Lady Hawks shot just 23% and were outrebounded, 63-31.

Hocking College's leader was freshman Shianne Nameth with 22 points including  six baskets from long range.

The Lady Commodores picked up their fifth win of the season; two more than all of last year.  They are now 5-13 and 1-6 in the OCCAC.  Hocking is 0-14 and 0-6.

LCCC will host Jamestown CC tomorrow after (Sunday, January 21) at 1 p.m.
