Weekend Wrap-Up Baseball: Tops take 4 from Hocking

The Tri-C Baseball team moved to 22-8 on the season and 15-1 in OCCAC play by sweeping a 4 game set from the Hawks of Hocking College Saturday and Sunday.

Game 1 W 11-1

The Tops traveled to Logan HS to take on Hocking.  Sloan Ulrich turned in a dominant perfomance on the mound going 6 innings, giving up only 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 7.  Zach Tizzano cleaned up the 7th for the Tops.  At the plate, Carter Gast went 4 for 4, while Mason Koons also had a two hit game.  Koons had 3 RBI's and Carter Blakeman also had two RBI's.  Blakeman, Koons and Gast all homered in the game.

Game 2 W 12-6

The Hawks took a 5-4 lead into the 6th, but the Tops erupted for three runs in the 6th and added five more in the 7th to take the 12-6 victory.  Getting the win on the mound was Jackson Judy who worked 2 innings of scoreless baseball.  At the plate the Tops were led by Mason Koons, who blasted his second homerun in as many games and went 4 for 4 with 4 RBI's.  Jake Downey and Jacob Connery also had multiple hits in the game.  Austyn Kazmierczak, Gast and Connery each had 2 RBI's.

Game 3 W 10-3

Tri-C took control of the game in the 4th inning with a 6 spot.  Layton O'Rourke was solid on the mound for the win, going 5 innings striking out 6 while walking nobody. Dylan Hatfield followed suit in his 2 innings of relief giving up only 1 run on 1 hit.  Jake Downey had 3 hits and 4 RBI's for the Tops and Carter Blakeman and Austyn Kazmierczak also had multiple hits.

Game 4 W 22-2

Riley McElwain got the win as he and Nick Zarbo shut down the Hawks bats giving up only 3 hits between them while striking out 5.  Offensively, Silas Moore was 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's as the Tops gathered 16 hits.  Carter Blakemand (3), Carter Gast (2) and Jacob Connery (2) all had multiple hits for the Tops.  Saveonne Mayo chipped in with 4 RBI's. 

 

The Tops have a huge weekend series upcoming with Edison State (15-13, 9-5 in OCCAC) traveling to Edison on Saturday for 2 and hosting the Chargers for 2 on Sunday.
