Hawks SB push win streak to six

The Hocking College Softball team returned to the freindly confines of the Hocking College Softball Complex and extended their winning streak to six games, moving their record to 20-8 on the sea to son with a doubleheader non-conference sweep of University of Northwestern Ohio JV. 

In Game 1 the Hawks iused a five run first inning to get things going. Grace Hash and Alessandra Mavilla both walked, Carissa Wheeler had a bunt single, Katie Hoffa walked in Hash, Kristen Stromack walked in Mavilla, and Emily Hanes single scored Wheeler and Hoffa. Hannah Nicholson's ground out scored Hoffa to give the Hawks a 5-0 lead. After giving up three runs in the top of the second the Hawks would come to bat in the bottom half and would bat around again. Mavilla got things going with a one out double. Wheeler would come up and hit a single to center to score Mavilla. Stromack and Hoffa would follow up with RBI doubles. Hanes would follow that up with her second hit of the game to move Hoffa to third. Sara Fattori would rip a single to left to score Hoffa and Carah Mladek would rip a double to left center to score Hanes and Fattori to extend the Hawks lead to 11-3. In the bottom of the third the Hawks would extend their lead to 12-3 on an RBI single by Hoffa. The Racers would come to bat in the top of the fourth and score 4 more times to get the deficit to 12-7. In the bottom of the fourth, Mladek would start things with a 1 out walk. Jash would follow that up with a double to left center. Mavilla would hit her second double of the game to score Mladek. The Hawks would then get RBI singles by Stromack and Hanes and a 2-RBI double by Fattori to extend the lead to 18-7. Sophomore Lexie Wilkes got the win in the circle to improve her record to 3-3 on the season.

In Game 2 the Hawks would strike first with a seven run first inning. Hash and Mavilla would walk and Wheeler would be hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hoffa and Chylece Cluck would hit back-to-back RBI singles and Fattori would hit a 2-RBI double to left center would give the Hawks a 5-0 lead before Hash would hit a run single to close out the first inning. The Hawks would then get four straight walks, an RBI Fielder's Choice, and an RBI single to extend the lead to 10-0 after two innings. In the bottom of the third inning Wheeler would get things going with a one out walk. Hoffa would then move Wheeler to second with a single to left. Cluck would then come up and hit a RBI double to left and Fattori would follow that up with a 2-RBI double to to left center to push the lead to 13-0. Mladek would then hit an RBI triple to right that would score Fattori and Hash would hit an RBI double that would score Mladek to extend the lead to 15-0. After the Racers pushed their only run across the plate in the top of the fourth inning the Hawks would come to bat in the bottom of the fourth and get three walks, a single, and a Fielder's Choice that would give the Hawks an 18-1 lead and that would be the final score.

Wilkes pitched a three hit gem in the circle to move her record to 4-3 on the season. Hocking returns to the Hocking College Softball Complex on Friday afternoon for an important OCCAC match up with Lakeland Community College. First pitch is set for 1:00PM.
