Hawks sweep Terra State, win streak now at 6 in a row.

The Hocking College Hawks softball team traveled to Sandusky, Ohio, on Saturday for an OCCAC matchup with the Terra State Titans. In game 1, after getting out to a slow start the Hawks found their groove and scored in every inning starting with the second. After giving up a run in the first and second innings, the Hawks got things rolling with a 2-out single by sophomore Chylese Cluck. After back-to-back walks to sophomores Amanda Lillis and Carah Mladek to load the bases, Cluck scored on a passed ball. Sophomore Grace Hash walked to again load the bases and sophomore Makayla Ball walked in Lillis. In the bottom of the third Sophomore Carissa Wheeler led off the inning with a base hit to right and stole second on the first pitch. Katie Hoffa hit a one out single to right center to score Wheeler and went to second on the throw home. Lillis then came up and hit a 2-out single to center to score Hoffa and give the Hawks a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the fouth inning sophomore Alessandra Mavilla got things going with a 1-out triple to left center and came home on Wheeler's double to right center. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for the Hawks. Wheeler then came home on a fielder's choice by Cluck and Freshman Sara Fatorri scored on a ground out by Lillis to give the Hawks a 7-2 lead. In the bottom of the fifth sophomore Grace Hash led off the inning with a triple to center field and would score on a bunt single by sophomore Makayla Ball. Wheeler would then come up and hit a 1-out triple to left center to extend the lead to 9-2. In the bottom of the sixth, the Hawks loaded the bases with a fielder's choice and back-to-back singles setting the stage for Wheeler who would then rip a 2-2 pitch to right center for a double and clear the bases, giving the Hawks a 12-4 mercy rule win.

Freshmen RHP Alexia Spangler got the win in the circle for the Hawks, scattering 4 hits over the 6 innings improving her record to 5-0 on the season.

In game 2 the Hawks started out scoing a once in the bottom of the first inning when Mavilla hit a double to left scoring Hash from first. In the bottom of the third, Lillis led off the inning with a triple to center and came home on Freshmen Emily Hanes's single to left field. Mavilla would get a 2-out walk and Wheeler would hit a 2-out triple to left center to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead Hoffa got things going in the bottom of the fourth with a single to center. Cluck and Lillis followed that with back-to-back bunt singles to score Hoffa. Freshmen Emily Hanes then lined a triple to right center to score Cluck and Lillis. Hash then hit a double to center to score Hanes and Hash would score later in the inning on a passed ball to give the Hawks a 9-2 lead. Hocking would come back in the bottom in the fifth with an additional two runs when Freshmen Sara Fattori would score on a ground out by Cluck and Hoffa would score on Hame's single to center.

Hanes would get the win in the circle, going five innings, scattering six hits, striking out two while walking only one. Sophomore Lexie Wilkes came in for the last two innings, striking out two and giving up just 1 hit.

Hocking returns to action this Thursday, April 4th to take on University of Northwestern Ohio JV with first pitch at 3:00pm ET.
