Feb 11, 2024

The Hocking College Men's Basketball team continued its impressive roll since the calendar turned to 2024 as the Hawks won their 10th straight on Saturday, pounding Owens Community College 101-72 at the Student Center.

With the victory, the Hawks improved their overall record to 17-5, and the Blue and Gold now sit alone in first place atop the OCCAC with a 10-1 record. Clark State knocked off Lakeland, who was tied with Hocking, 88-87 to give the Hawks the top spot.

Hocking started fast, taking control early and raced to a commanding 53-27 halftime lead. Freshman forward Treshawn Cody scored 17 of his 27 points in the first half, including a highlight reel breakaway reverse dunk. Cody, who came off the bench, has tallied double figures in 11 straight games to help lead the Hawks bench that accounted for 70 of the team's 101 points. Hocking shot 53 percent from the field for the game and doubled Owens in rebounding.

It also marked the seventh time this season Hocking has topped the 100-point mark, and the fourth time during the 10-game winning streak. The Hawks scored 115 against Owens in Perrysburg last month.

Joining Cody in double figures was sophomore forward Dennis Osoro, who scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Anthony Millner added 12. Allen Lattimore had nine points, while the bench got added assistance from Zion Reynold's eight and Marvin Good, who chipped in seven points.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday February 14th at Clark State with tip time set for 7:30 pm.
