Hawks drop DH to Bobcats on the road

The Hocking College Hawks baseball team traveled to Hiran, OH to take on Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats in an OCCAC doubleheader.

In Game 1, the Hawks started out red hot getting two runs in the top of the first inning. After back to back singles by Mark Abel and Ronnie Rowley which was followed by a double stolen base and an error by the catcher allowing Abel to score, Rowley then scored on a single by Keith Tabor to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. After back-to-back-to-back walks for the Bobcats, they were able to get a 1-out single to close the gap to 2-1. In the bottom of the 2nd inning the Bobcats would score four more times to take a 5-2 lead going into the 3rd inning. The Hawks would make some noise. After Abel and Rowley walked, Tabor singled that allowed Abel to score and Rowley would score on a ground out to close the gap to 5-4. The Bobcats would then explode for five runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to increase their lead to 10-4. The Hawks would come back in the fourth to score two more runs as Rowley would hit a 2-out double that would score freshman Johnny Plaugher and Abel to cut the deficit to 10-6. That would be as close as the Hawks would get as the Bobcats would score four in the fourth inning and walk it off in the bottom of the fifth with two more runs to end the game with the mercy rule at 16-6. Tabor led the hitting attack going 3-3 with 2 RBI. Freshman Nate Silvus took the loss for the Hawks on tbe hill.

In Game 2, the Hawks could only muster two hits and the Bobcats blew open a 0-0 game by scoring six times in the bottom of the fifth and tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth to take the sweep, wining 8-0. Mark Abel took the loss on the hill for the Hawks. 

The Hawks return to action Wednesday with an OCCAC doubleheader matchup on the road at The Pipe Yard against Lorain County Community College. First pitch is at 1:00pm ET.
